2009 Nationals Selection Criteria

Biathlon Saskatchewan  - Criteria For 2009 Nationals Valcartier

For developmental reasons Biathlon Sask will attempt  to take as many athletes who be eligible for Canada Winter Games as possible,  (up to 8)  provided they are at an appropriate level.   Younger athletes will be permitted to race up.

1)  Athletes must race at an out of province race.  If an athlete finishes within 75% of the top three finishers at an Alberta Cup Race, or out of province race they will be selected.

2. Athletes who do not meet this standard and have special circumstances can still apply to the high performance committee and  be selected.   (an email or letter can be forwarded to  Doug Sylvester)

3. Athletes wishing to pay their own way entirely may ask to be sanctioned by Biathlon Saskatchewan.

4. The final team selections will be made by the high performance committee and ratified by the executive Feb 20th.

5. There will be a team fee for all athletes going that must be paid in advance.  The fee will be determined at a later date.  Likely $400-700.

The athlete's highest percentage in an out of province race will determine the level of funding.  For example, an athlete with 84%  would receive 84%  of the funding that an athlete achieving a standing of 100% .

Saskatchewan Winter Games Camp Proposal

Saskatchewan  Winter Games  - 1000$ Camp  Proposal.

Biathlon Sask will pay an honouraria for $1000  for each weekend (2 day camp) , and $500 for a one day camp.    Each camp will have two coaches with the honoraria to be split .

Organizers of the camps will be responsible for their own travel and food expenses.  Biathlon Sask will supply pellet rifles if needed.

Their main goal is to build on the success of this summers tyalent ID program and to field full teams in all nine zones for Sask Winter Games.  In some zones, this will mean finding coaches, managers as well as athletes.   Call Doug Sylvester for more information .  445 6887.
